(AD, FB, SW, TN, TR)

The 2009 FACA Winter Clinic (Athletic Directors, Football, Swimming, Tennis, Track) is set for January 8th – 10th at the Daytona Beach Hilton Oceanfront Resort (100 North Atlantic Ave…386-254-8200). FACA State Sports Chairmen, Ed McPadden (athletic directors), Shelton Crews (football), Tom Fagley (swimming), John Danise (tennis) and Ron Brooks (track) have put together an outstanding array of speakers and topics for our state coaches. (click on each sport to view clinic schedule).

Dr. Roger Dearing, New FHSAA Executive Director will be talking with the state athletic directors on Friday, January 9th. Other FHSAA Staff will be participating in the Winter Clinic. Don’t miss this chance to share ideas with the state leadership.

The FACA State Sports Committee (district chairman and vice-chairman) in football, swimming, tennis, and track will meet during the clinic. These will be very important meetings to discuss recommendations concerning the FACA All-Star Games, Clinics, and recommendations to the FHSAA. This will give each FACA district a chance to have input into the decision-making process.

Each of the FACA State Sports Chairmen serve on the FHSAA sports advisory committee in their respective sport. These are the committees where changes or additions to current rules and regulations are discussed before sending on to the FHSAA Board of Directors for a vote. If you have concerns in your sport, be sure to attend these FACA meetings at your January Clinic.

The Daytona Beach Hilton Oceanfront Resort is offering a room rate of $102.00 plus tax per night single or double. The cutoff date for this special rate is December 17th. Be sure to tell them you are with the FACA Fall Clinic for this special rate.

Clinic registration is free to 2008-09 FACA members and $60.00 for non-members. You can print a FACA membership application from this web site and mail along with your check for $60.00 made out to FACA or you can register and pay at the clinic. The advantage of registering immediately is that as a FACA member, you are covered with the FACA One Million Dollar Professional Liability Policy which covers all of your duties as a high school junior high or high school coach. Your association is continuing to work for you.

You may sign up for in-service points (25 points…must be approved by your county) at not extra cost. For more information, call the FACA Office in Ocala at 352 368-7866 or E-mail: Wbarnette1@aol.com.
