Seven Coaches Voted Into FACA Hall of Fame

Seven outstanding coaches were voted to the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame in June at the annual FACA Summer Board of Directors Meeting at the Daytona Beach Hilton Oceanfront Resort. The seven were nominated by their peers, reviewed by the FACA Awards Committee and voted on by the FACA Board of Directors.

We congratulate each of the following coaches and their families for being selected to receive the FACA's highest honor: R.N. Ball, Titusville HS-retired (cross country, track); Wilson Edwards, Palatka HS (athletic director, football, tennis); David Lawrence, Coral Gables (track, football); Wendell McCraw, St. Augustine HS-retired (athletic director, football, golf); Frank Permuy, Gaither HS (baseball); Rance “Hoppy” Rewis, Sebring HS (baseball, football, softball); and Mark Schusterman, Gulliver Prep (athletic director, softball).

The Luncheon and Induction will be held at the Daytona Beach Hilton Oceanfront Resort on January 10, 2009 at 12:00 noon. Each coach who haas the opportunity should attend this impressive and enlightening affair.

To be eligible for this award, a minimum of 20 years of service in the coaching profession (in Florida) and/or participation in FACA is required. Criteria for selection is based on coaching record, championships won, head coaching tenure, FACA service and awards.

If you or someone you know should be considered for this award, you can click on FACA Awards on this web site, print the Hall of Fame application, complete application and mail to the FACA Office in Ocala by June 1st for consideration at Summer Board of Directors Meeting.
