FACA Selects 34th Hall of Fame Class

Seven outstanding coaches were voted to the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame in June at the annual FACA Summer Board of Directors Meeting at the Daytona Beach Hilton Oceanfront Resort.  The seven were nominated by their peers, reviewed by the FACA Awards Committee and voted on by the FACA Board of Directors.

We congratulate each of the following coaches and their families for being selected to receive the FACA’s highest honor:  Perry Brown, Lynn Haven-Mosley HS (football);  Walt Frazier, Miami-Carol City HS-retired (football);  Dave Horner, Ocala-Forest HS-retired (basketball, track);  Robert Iamurri, Naples HS (softball);  Dean Johnson, Lakeland Christian (soccer);  Leo Madrigal, Miami-Killian (soccer); and Clyde Metcalf, Sarasota Sr. HS (baseball).

The Luncheon and Induction will be held at the Daytona Beach Hilton Oceanfront Resort on December 13, 2009 at 12:00 noon.  Each coach who has the opportunity should attend this impressive and enlightening affair.

To be eligible for this award, a minimum of 20 years of service in the coaching profession (in Florida) and/or participation in FACA is required.  Criteria for selection is based on coaching record, championships won, head coaching tenure, FACA service and awards.
